The Kings New Laws

An investigation of far reaching social reforms introduced by Morocco’s modernising King Mohammed VI. Among the changes: a family law to give women a new set of rights unequalled in the Arab world. But the King’s new laws are controversial: some say they are un-Islamic. Others say they have left out Morocco’s most vulnerable women. This film asks whether the King has gone far enough in his attempt to reform his country – or too far, as some of his critics claim.
